August 15, 2007. Six Italian citizens are murdered in Duisburg, a small German town. Overnight, Europe discovers that the unkown but powerful ‘Ndrangheta mob is sprawling all over the continent from its southern Italy base. The ‘Ndrangheta, “the mafia which is not a globalization follower but a globalization key player”. Tracking the six scheduled murders, this documentary film investigates the European leader’s cocaine importation network stretching from Calabria to Milan, Italy and from Costa del Sol, Spain to Ruhr Valley, Germany. Infiltrating sectors such as real estate and healthcare to government contracting and Market to laundering illegal drug trafficking and weapons smuggling profits, Calabrian mobs permeate economies across the European Union. According to estimates, ‘Ndrangheta’s criminal empire amounts to €36 billion a year. From primitive but technologycally equipped underground bunkers dug out in Calabria, godfathers converted into businessmen and nerds run outside cloned cells while condemning their own impoverished localities to underdevelopment.
