France, 1979. Valéry Giscard d'Estaing is president. Robert Boulin, minister of labor, is in line to become prime minister. But when a series of anonymous letters is sent to the media accusing him of illegally purchasing land in the south of France, things turn for the worse. Boulin denies the accusations and persists in claiming his innocence…until the day his body turns up dead in a forest outside Paris. While the initial investigation declares it a suicide, Boulin’s close relations suspect that he was the victim of an assassination.
